Plot
New York mob boss Dwight “The General” released from prison after 25 years; Manfredi exiled to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Sylvester Stallone’s first major role in a television series. Dwight “The General”; Manfredi: I don’t really go to church.
Exactly what you’re looking for
The opening credits sequence shows various photographic and painted images, as well as Oklahoma landmarks, superimposed on the New York landscape: the “Touch the Clouds” statue of a Sioux Indian chief; wearing a War Bonnet and Bone Choker necklace (breastplate) attached to the Brooklyn Bridge’s Golden Driller statue, built on the Statue of Liberty. In the Manhattan borough of New York City, there are several numbered “Avenues”; which are intersected by smaller numbered streets.. Featured on CBS News Sunday Morning: Episode #45.7 (2022).
Tulsa King presents
Stallone hits the mark with a gritty, no-nonsense performance that mixes humor and violence to near perfection. The classic fish-out-of-water scenario is well-acted. And the first episode does a great job of establishing what looks like a stellar cast.
Frankly, I was pleasantly surprised
The plot starts to come together from the get-go. We’ll see how the season goes, but for now, it’s a nice change of pace compared to some of the other series debuts of late. There’s no CGI to be sure.
