Half-Life: Blue Shift is the second expansion pack for Valve Software’s science fiction first-person shooter video game Half-Life

Unlike its counterparts of the time, Half-Life uses scenarios that range from minor events, such as an alien slamming a door, to major plot points. Opposing Force is set in the same place and time as Half-Life, in a remote laboratory in New Mexico called the Black Mesa Research Facility.

Blue Shift begins similarly to Half-Life, with Barney Calhoun riding a tram through the Black Mesa facility to get to his workplace. The High Definition Pack introduced higher-quality models to the game, doubling the number of polygons used in the original models.
