Plot
After a shipwreck, an intelligent robot named Roz is stranded on an uninhabited island
To survive in the harsh environment, Roz befriends the island’s animals and takes care of an orphaned baby goose. Lupita Nyong’o talks to writer and director Chris Sanders about important work and their time together filming “The Wild Robot”. According to writer Peter Brown, the inspiration for “The Wild Robot” came from a sketch he made of a robot in a tree. He then asked the question, “What would an intelligent robot do in the wild?” As the fox enters the cabin, a moose grunts near the door, but a recording of a bear is used as a sound effect.

Adapted from author Peter Brown’s best-selling books of the same name, Robot has already received rave reviews and comparisons to films such as The Giant from Outer Space and Sanders’ own dragon adventure
Chris Sanders’ latest project behind the camera marks the end of a hugely successful and entertaining era for DreamWorks’ in-house animation studios, which will transition to outsourced work in the future, and follows his popular work as a supervising artist on the hits Lilo & Stitch. Stitch, How to Train Your Dragon and The Croods are a wonderful send-off for the brand that has given us many animated classics, with The Wild Robot a real contender to beat Inside Out 2 as the animated film of the year in 2024. Far from faint praise for a film of this genre, this manages to be an all-round package that is sure to delight those young people who will be drawn to the story of the lost robot Roz and her budding friendship with the wily fox Finch and the young gosling Brightbill for whom she acts as a surrogate mother, but also a film that will resonate with older viewers who are sure to enjoy such a lovingly crafted film full of heart and soul. Robot makes full use of its 100-minute running time and has very few lulls or downtimes, as Roz’s journey of discovery with new friends and what it means to truly care and love each other outside of the boundaries set for her takes us on a familiar theatrical journey, but one that is staged with enough uniqueness and confidence that there is never a worry that Robot is just checking off boxes, creating an unforgettable outing that will have you cheering, laughing, and most likely crying the entire time.
